Return to Opioid Top-Level Strategy Mapor Zoom Map (Improve Treatment & Enable Recovery for People with SUDs)

Background

  • Substance-Free/Recovery Housing: a recovery house available on campus that offers substance-free activities for students recovering from drug or alcohol abuse.
    • Rutgers University, the state university of New Jersey, was the first to design this style of college housing.[1]
    • While living in this type of housing, students must attend at least two 12-step meetings a week and meet with recovery center counselors.[2]
    • New Jersey signed a law that requires all state colleges and universities in the state to offer sober housing if at least a quarter of the students live on campus.[3]
