Example of a Description

Decreasing deaths of all types related ot opioid misuse--whether they are accidental due to taking a fake pill, following a long experience of SUD, or an accidental death due to combining opioids with alcohol.

Examples of a From-To Gap

Current State   Desired State
People who don't understand the dangers of combining opioid use with alcohol use accidentially die from this combination.   Because people are aware of the high risks of combining alcohol and opioids, far fewer accidental deaths occur from this combination.
People who are released from treatment or prison don't realize that their tolerance has declined and they take an amount that they would have previously taken and it leads to their death.   A combination of education, MAT and extra support after a person leaves a situation where they have been abstaining from opioids (especially if that abstinance was involuntary) leads to far fewer people dying from overdoses in these situation.
People take pills that they may think are legitimate presecription drugs, and they die because they are fake pills laced with fentanyl.    There are much improved steps that minimize the number of fake piills in communities, and people are trained to recognize and avoid fake pills.
