| Many women who are misusing opioids and are at a relatively high risk of having an unintended, unwanted pregnancy (and a baby born with NAS) are not using contraception because of a lack of understanding or because they can't afford birth control--especially a LARC

| Women who are at high risk of having an unintended, unwanted pregnancy (and risk of having a baby born with NAS) are educated on the options and importance for birth control, and they are supported (financially and otherwise) so they are able to get the form of birth control that they desire.

| Women with an OUD who have a baby that is born with NAS return after giving birth without being set up to have an intentional plan about whether or not they want to have additional children at this time, and are not supported to make sure those who do not want to have a baby are set up with appropriate birth control.

| Women with OUD who deliver a baby with NAS and who do not want to have another baby are provided with a LARC (if they wish) and counseling to avoid having another unplanned baby born with NAS.

| Existing information that could help target education and support for birth control is not being used to help women who may have unplanned babies born with NAS.

| Health plans help identify women who are being prescribed opioids but not birth control and provide them with educational content and support for family planning.

| Women who want birth control and who have insurance (or Medicaid) are not getting the guidance in how to start the birth control options that they would choose.

| Women with insurance or Medicaid are guided to use that insurance to get appropriate contraception.
