The material will also be useful for pediatric nurses working in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and primary care providers in women's health care.   Self-pacedAs clinicians are more likely to encounter women with an opioid abuse disorder who are or may become pregnant, it is vital that they have a clear understanding of the role of opioid-maintenance therapy as well as the effects of opioids on the fetus and the mother. The treatment plan should continue after the birth to ensure the child is cared for adequately and the mother receives the best care possible.
