Brief Page Description

Examples of a Description for this Objective

An important part of the community baby celebrations is providing the parents with a bag or kit containing a variety of resources that will help them with parenting and help the early development of the child.  To reduce the need for fundraising and grants, to reach more people, and to have more buy-in and engagement from a wide range of organizations, a key part of the strategy is for different organizations to donate items that can be in these bags/kits.

Current State

Desired State

Low-income parents lack many of the things that would help them do better in supporting the early development of their babies.   All families that participate in the community baby celebrations get lots of valuable stuff from the community.
Each organization trying to do a community baby celebration has to find people and organizations to donate things.    The larger organization supporting many community baby celebrations makes connections to get donations, shares “multiplying resources” and shares ideas for things that can be donated or made.
It is difficult for organizations to pay for valuable innovative products (like Brain Insight’s ring-books), and it is too much work to get them donated.     Organizations like Music Together® or United Ways or faith communities encourage people to buy these items (for themselves or as gifts) and then simplifies collection of the used items to be added to the community baby celebration kits.
Good ideas of what community members can do (such seniors as knitting baby hats or booties) are not replicated to other organizations and communities.    Good ideas for ways that communities can donate things to the baby bags or kits are described so they can be easily shared as ideas or “asks”.
