According to Robert Putnam, “evidence has mounted of a diminution of social capital in the United States,” despite the fact that “trust relationships and resilient communities generally form through local personal contact.” We accept the challenge of re-creating new forms of community, adapted to the needs of parents in our community.

Parents are parenting in isolation due to low social cohesion in the community.

 

Parents are intertwined in supportive and meaningful relationships and multigenerational connections.

Grandparents are increasingly raising grandchildren because the parents are unable to.

   

Seniors are living in single-generation housing. Broader emphasis on single-family detached homes.

 

Intergenerational knowledge-sharing opportunities and shared spaces are commonplace.

Fractured social capital; Siloing is a community phenomenon; lack of community “feel;” “Tribalism” / “Echo chamber.  

People are more fully engaged in the broader community.
