Examples of a From-To Gap

Current State

Desired State

a. There is a need to build trust and relationships between the family care-givers and organizations in the coalition.  Deeper relationships are needed to increase the engagement of families.

b.  Families have become skeptical because they have given their input in the past, but they didn’t see changes. Communication needs to be improved.  They often don’t get feedback on how their input was used.

c. Organizations that seek input and engagement by families are often not well prepared to make use of that input.

d.  Many different organizations seek input from families in various ways (surveys, etc.) but the efforts are not coordinated.  The information is fragmented,  and the families feel that they are being burdened by having to give similar information to many people—without benefits for results.

  d.  The many organizations that desire input and information from the families have coordinate their questions and mechanisms for gathering the input, requiring less duplicated efforts from the families, and a richer and more successfully used pool of information for each of the groups.

e. We have a skewed sample of parents who may not know or appreciate the challenges, concerns or priorities of the broader communities.   Even if the parents are great at speaking and  are passionate, they likely lack a good way to capture diverse voices

  e. The leaders we have helped to develop accurately reflect the differing views of the people they represent.  They have a good way to collect the voices, concerns and issues of the people they represent.
